We kissed each other through pulp of peach,
My lips learning the curves of your mouth,
the tricks of your tongue, moving south
across my body, your tail just always out of reach.
Tremors up my thighs as you murmured of each
star and how it came to be; the great mouth
of the rivers roared besides us, trying to douse
us as we listened to each other’s heart-beats.
The river of your scales flowed between my legs:
I blossomed desire. You glided through the grass
like dawn slithering into the sky. I drink the dregs
of my memories, thirsting for you, afraid to ask
why I only see the flash of your shiny scales
when I close my eyes.
